  12.   If you write anything at all on the
  13.  
  14. job, you write your share of memos.
  15.  
  16. And if you don't write memos, you
  17.  
  18. probably should: memos are a perfect
  19.  
  20. way to request information, express
  21.  
  22. complaints, or communicate your ideas.
  23.  
  24.  
  25.   MEMO WRITER is a simple word
  26.  
  27. processor that automatically puts your
  28.  
  29. input into memo format.  After you
  30.  
  31. create your memo, you can then save
  32.  
  33. it to disk, edit it if you need to,
  34.  
  35. and then make a printout of it.
  36.  
  37.  
  38. USING MEMO WRITER
  39. -----------------
  40.  
  41.   When you run MEMO WRITER, you first
  42.  
  43. go to its main menu.  The title of the
  44.  
  45. memo currently in memory and the
  46.  
  47. program's seven options are
  48.  
  49. displayed.

  52. OPTIONS
  53. -------
  54.  
  55. W - Write A Memo.  This is the option
  56.  
  57. you use to compose your memo.  When
  58.  
  59. you choose this option, you are
  60.  
  61. prompted to enter the date, the
  62.  
  63. person addressed, the name of the
  64.  
  65. writer, and the subject of the memo.
  66.  
  67. After you have entered all of this,
  68.  
  69. you can begin typing the body of the
  70.  
  71. memo.
  72.  
  73.  
  74.   Note that MEMO WRITER has no
  75.  
  76. "word-wrap" function.  You must
  77.  
  78. manually add carriage returns to begin
  79.  
  80. new lines. (The cursor stops at the
  81.  
  82. end of each line.)

  85.   Also note that once you move the
  86.  
  87. cursor off of a line, you cannot
  88.  
  89. return to that line to edit it.  You
  90.  
  91. must go to the "Edit Memo" option to
  92.  
  93. edit a line.

  96. S - Save Memo.  When you exit Option
  97.  
  98. 'W'  you return to the main menu. To
  99.  
  100. save the memo to disk, choose Option
  101.  
  102. 'S' You will be prompted to enter a
  103.  
  104. filename for the memo.
  105.  
  106.  
  107.   Note that if the new filename is
  108.  
  109. identical to one already on the disk,
  110.  
  111. the file won't be saved and you must
  112.  
  113. select a different filename.  You
  114.  
  115. can see a directory of the disk
  116.  
  117. currently in the drive by pressing the
  118.  
  119. "=" key and [RETURN].
  120.  
  121.  
  122. L - Load Memo.  To load a memo, merely
  123.  
  124. enter its filename.  Pressing the "="
  125.  
  126. key and [RETURN] will display the
  127.  
  128. disk directory.
  129.  
  130.  
  131. E - Edit Memo.  If you want to make
  132.  
  133. changes to a memo, load it into memory
  134.  
  135. and choose this option.  After you
  136.  
  137. have made changes, be sure to use
  138.  
  139. Option S to save the new version of
  140.  
  141. the memo.  When you edit a memo, you
  142.  
  143. must edit every line.  If you exit
  144.  
  145. before the end of the memo, all the
  146.  
  147. remaining text will be erased.
  148.  
  149.  
  150. P - Print Memo.  This option, of
  151.  
  152. course, makes a printout of your memo.
  153.  
  154.  
  155.   Note: Some memos require signatures,
  156.  
  157. others don't.  The program will ask
  158.  
  159. you if it should append your name and
  160.  
  161. title to the memo.  The program gets
  162.  
  163. this information from what you have
  164.  
  165. entered in the "Change Signature"
  166.  
  167. option.

  169.  
  170. C - Change Signature.  This option
  171.  
  172. creates a special file on the disk
  173.  
  174. that contains your name and title.
  175.  
  176. This is the file that the Print Option
  177.  
  178. accesses if you choose to append your
  179.  
  180. name and title to the printout.  If
  181.  
  182. you need to change this information,
  183.  
  184. you can use this option to do so at
  185.  
  186. any time.
  187.  
  188.  
  189. X - Exit.  This option returns you to
  190.  
  191. LOADSTAR.
